Mesquite Convention and Visitors Bureau earns five state awards.

Mesquite, TX – September 4, 2019 – The Mesquite Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) received five awards at the recent Texas Association of Convention and Visitors Bureau’s (TACVB) Annual Conference for excellence in destination marketing.

The Mesquite CVB received the People’s Choice Awards, selected by tourism industry peers, for its budget size in the categories of Advertising, Website, Mobile Site, and Video. “We had a record 116 entries this year,” said Kim Phillips, TACVB Chief Operating Officer. “The winners faced stiff competition, and these awards are well-deserved.”

Glint Advertising created a new logo identifier and brand vision for the Mesquite CVB in late 2018. After the brand strategy was approved, the agency played an integral role in ensuring it was represented correctly across all new marketing assets. Also, Glint created an advertising campaign that targeted different audience segments within multiple media outlets that resulted in a second-place award for budgets under $350,000.

“Rolling out any brand slowly over time has its challenges. But not doing so would have hurt the Mesquite CVB tourism and revenues goals for the year, and that was not something we were going to get wrong,” said Craig Lloyd, Glint President/CEO. “We are honored the Mesquite CVB trusted us to help create and push their new brand forward.”

About the Mesquite CVB: The Mesquite CVB will continue to balance its award-winning marketing efforts with strong sales partnerships with local hotel properties as well as collaborative programs with restaurants, retail, and area attractions. Digital outreach and printed materials will contribute to a blend of promotional campaigns to sustain Mesquite’s relevancy as a destination of choice for conferences and day travelers. 4 Ways to Stay Inspired in the New Year

As 2013 comes to an end, all of us here at Glint have spent time reflecting on the previous year and all of the fun and success that has come along with it. Another year of great work has come and gone, and a new one is just around the corner. As we welcome new clients and continue building and growing with our current ones, we realize that a new year also means a lot of fresh, new ideas. And we couldn’t be more excited!

Staying creative and motivated every day is what makes our jobs at Glint so much fun. It’s not always easy, though. But we’ve all managed to find some interesting ways to get motivated and stay on track when feeling a little uninspired.

We’ve compiled several tips about staying motivated and stress-free that can help get some great ideas flowing if taken to heart in the New Year:

1. Write it down: Keep a journal in your bag, an ongoing list on your computer, or just open up the “notes” app on your phone whenever you get an interesting idea. No matter what medium you choose, always have somewhere to jot down ideas, goals, or downright silly things that made you smile today. Inspiration is everywhere. You may never use anything you write down, but then again, one of those little scribbles may lead to your next great idea.

2. Get organized: Cleaning up and getting things organized now can save you a lot of grief down the road. Get your ducks in a row at the beginning of the year, and resolve to keep them that way. It can save you from the stress of needing to clean and organize your desk (or office, or life) sometime down the road. This way, you can stay focused on what needs to get done! At Glint, we just spent two days cleaning out and organizing all of the cabinets, and it feels good. Now we’ve had plenty of time to brainstorm new ideas and tactics!

3. Never stop learning: Start a new hobby, read a new book, join a club, take a pottery class, go to a seminar. There’s always room to learn new things, and switching up your skills engages different parts of your brain. Additionally, meeting new people and reading new material opens your mind up to different viewpoints and ideas. Exposing yourself to these can open up a whole new world, and many great ideas with it.

4. Relax and reward yourself: Take a few minutes each day to be proud of yourself and all of the things you have accomplished. Reward yourself with a piece of chocolate (or 6, we’re not judging), or take 5 minutes to sit back and dream. Maybe even start a Nerf gunfight in the office (we’re guilty). Giving your mind a rest will allow for new ideas to flow in.

We’d love to hear your tips for staying inspired and resolutions for the New Year. If one of these resolutions involves expanding your marketing in 2014, feel free to give us a call at (817) 616-0320 or shoot us an e-mail at digital@glintadv.com. Have a safe and Happy New Year from everyone at Glint!

Up with Trees

The Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce North Area Council, in partnership with TXU Energy and Texas Tree Foundation, planted trees at J. P. Elder Middle School last week. The botany-class students who helped were rewarded with their own sapling to take home and plant in their yards. Trees were donated by TXU and Texas Trees Foundation.

“It’s a great thing to see the local business community engaging with schools and children,” said Craig Lloyd, Chair of the North Area Council and President of Glint Advertising. “Making a positive impact with the kids at such a young age is critical in helping them discover all the opportunities they have available to them.”

Stars, Stetsons and Stilletos

The Northwest Metroport Chamber of Commerce hosted its Annual Awards Gala last Friday at the DFW Marriott at Champions Circle. Anticipation was in the air as volunteers, business owners, and community leaders were recognized for their outstanding business accomplishments and community service. Elected officials, a multitude of community stakeholders, and committed Chamber volunteers were in attendance to hear about the 2011 economic impact these award recipients made on the six city region.

Throughout the evening many accolades were given to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding efforts in their business and the community. And with unexpected surprise, Craig Lloyd accepted two awards on behalf of Glint Advertising during the evening: one for “Director of the Year” noting his accomplishments as a member of the Board of Directors, and the second for Glint’s contribution as an “Executive Partner” to the Chamber.

“Anytime our agency is recognized it is extremely humbling, and validates our core value of community commitment. It is an honor to participate in such events and to be surrounded by like-minded businesses dedicated to making our region a better place to live and do business,” Craig stated.

The evening was also a remembrance that accomplishments come in many forms, and it is important to pause and take a moment to enjoy them. And, to always remember a company is not a good company without great people. The team you assemble is the only reason any company or leader will ever be successful.
