Glint Advertising awards high school senior Katherine (Katie) G. Lilley with a college scholarship.
Lilley is a graduating senior from Byron Nelson High School in Trophy Club and a budding graphic designer. The $750 scholarship expands Glint’s recognition program beyond Keller ISD to include Northwest ISD.
“Our partnership with KCAL (Keller ISD Center for Advanced Learning) in Keller ISD has been a highlight for us these past few years,” says Glint Advertising CEO Craig Lloyd. “We always knew we wanted to expand at the right time.”
Physically close to Northwest ISD district schools, Glint jumped at the opportunity to partner with the Byron Nelson PTSA to offer more to the organization’s traditional offerings and encourage students with creative ambitions. According to Lloyd, senior Katherine G. Lilley fits the bill–being marketing bound and showing a penchant for service–qualities that align with the Glint brand.
“In her essay, Katherine talks about ‘working on many art pieces at home when she was in elementary,” says Erayne Gee Hill, Glint Advertising vice president. “How could we resist recognizing someone who has been committed to her work for so long and when no one is watching?”
Lilley regularly participated in Reflections, a PTSA-sponsored fine arts competition, which she attributes to her love for the arts.
Her portfolio contains self-described “colorful and glittery” art pieces.
She plans to major in graphic design and marketing at Texas Christian University following her graduation from Byron Nelson HS. Ranked in the top twelve percent of her class, Lilley is no stranger to advanced placement (AP) classes, completing several courses, including 2-D art and design, environmental science, and psychology. Her love of fine arts is also evident in her participation in the band and orchestra, playing the oboe, English horn, and flute.
She is especially proud of earning TMEA 2022 All Region 2nd Chair, Area 1st Chair, and All State 1st Chair for the English horn.
Also of note: the BNHS symphony full orchestra was invited to perform at the Midwest Music Clinic and 2022 TMEA Clinic/Convention, a distinction in the performing arts community. She has participated in numerous summer camps at TCU and Texas Tech and is in the process of creating and writing an original young adult book series.
Inducted into the National Honor Society in 2020, Lilley had 24.5 service hours for the 2020-21 school year. She focuses on her art and babysits for neighbors and family friends in her spare time.
